“Show and Tell”
Artists’ Reception and Awards: Saturday, November 5, 4pm – 6pm
Every piece of art has a story. Show the best work you have created in the past twelve months and be prepared to talk about it briefly. “Show and Tell” is open to all media, to members of Studio Channel Islands Art Center only. Members must be in good standing. New Members welcome! Please visit our website for information on membership. No work that has been previously shown at Studio Channel Islands Art Center will be accepted.
Awards: First places in 2D and 3D will be offered a 2-person show in 2013.
2nd and 3rd Place in 2D and 3D: $100; $50
Entry fee: $35.00 for up to three pieces. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of submitted images. Entries by Picture CD or email only!

Specifications:
- 2D: no greater than 36” wide, 8’ ceiling;
- 3D: not to exceed 100 lb, 36” square;
Some pedestals available.
- All artwork must be delivered ready to be displayed, paintings must be properly framed and wired (no saw tooth hangers or unwired paintings will be accepted).
- Art must be for sale. Gallery commission is 40% of sales price.
Entry Procedures:
Artwork must be submitted for jurying electronically by October 14, 2011.
- High resolution image/s (jpgs, 300dpi @ 6 x 8 max). Two images per work may be submitted. Send a labeled Picture CD to SCIART Gallery or email your image/s to sciartcenter@verizon.net. Images to be named: Name.Title.Medium.Size. (e.g. “Geiger.HighGround.oil.12×18”)
- Submit description of your work: Artist Name, Title, Medium, Size, Price
- Please provide a short statement for each piece.
- Payment can be submitted by mailing a check to SCIART or using PayPal on our website
Need help submitting?
We are offering a workshop – free to members! – on how to submit your work electronically for Call for Entries exhibits. A 90 minutes interactive lecture will demonstrate basic steps to prepare images for submission, explain expectations for a professional presentation and point out how to avoid common mistakes. It will be a simple and basic workshop which will not cover advanced image enhancing.
For PC Users: Date: September 27, noon to 1:30pm.
For Mac Users: October 4, noon to 1:30pm

Notification:
- Artists will be notified by phone no later than October 20th, 2011
- CDs will not be returned.
Bring In Date:
- Accepted artwork must be delivered on Monday October 31st, 10am to 2pm. Please call if you need to make other arrangements.
- Artist is responsible for all shipping costs.
Participating artists will be asked to gallery sit at least one time during the run of the show. Please bring your calendar to schedule a date!
Docent Training:Artists are encouraged to attend the docent training on November 3, 4pm to 5pm.
Reception:
November 5th, 4pm – 6pm. Traditionally, Studio Channel Islands Art Center’s Annual Membership Show has been a Potluck Reception.
End of show, art pick-up date:
November 26th, 2011, 10am to 3pm.
SCIART has no responsibility for the damage or loss of the artworks during shipping, delivery, exhibit, removing, pick-up and returning. SCIART assigns a juror to choose the pieces of art which will be on display. Art work will be installed by SCIART’s installation team. The installation team determines the lay-out of the exhibition. Artist will supply special instructions if necessary. Artist is responsible for removing the work after the show. SCIART has no storage, and delays for removing the works may result in additional cost for the artist.
