Docent Appreciation Program Studio Channel Islands Art Center is proud of our Docent Training Program. Our docent group receives on-going training and instruction on technical and artistic aspects of our exhibits. Docents will be needed to welcome and guide visitors through our gallery, inform them about ongoing exhibits and programs, and carry out sales. Docents commit to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per month, not including their training time and Docent Appreciation Events. In addition to Free Artist Talks and Lectures, docents who fulfill their commitments will receive a series of 6 Docent Appreciation Certificates per year: 1. Coupon for one complimentary one-day workshop of your choice (Restrictions may apply due to availability) 2. Invitation to a complimentary “Luncheon for Docents” 3. 50% discount on rental of the gallery room after hours for a personal event (Restrictions apply due to availability and purpose of use) 4. One complimentary “Guided Field Trip” to an Art Venue 5. One special invitation to a “Meet the Artists Evening for Docents” 6. 10% on all Gift Store purchases
Charitable Giving to Non-profit Organizations Knowing that you are a part of the dramatic role the arts play in a community’s cultural and economic ecosystems. By supporting the nonprofit arts sector, you are supporting an important economic component: in the rural communities, art venues are essential elements in downtown revitalization, generating an impact (statewide) of $120 million annually. In the larger cities, the arts make an important contribution to urban renewal and development. A statewide survey showed that Californians believe arts contributions to individual health and enrichment is even greater than the role of the arts in the economy…the survey respondents ranked arts impact on quality-of-life in their communities as most important. It is widely known that the arts help build vibrant and healthy communities. Studio Channel Islands’s contributions include helping create a place where people want to live and work… a balanced community that people are proud to call home. Supporting the arts is supporting cultural awareness and understanding, preserving the cultural heritage and making art accessible to all. A corporation providing funding and resources to SCIART could be proud of helping us build capacity, and with assistance from other funders, they would be patrons of the arts for their community. The monies could be used to: – Recognize and encourage non-professional, volunteer activities. -Support cultural activities which reflect the diversity of Ventura County -Stimulate local support, particularly at the grassroots level. -Sustain the professional development of Studio Channel Islands. -Promote artistic and business excellence.
