I studied art/photography for two years at Santa Monica College and two years at California Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. During my time in college I focused on print art and graphic design for commercial sales and product development. With the purchase of my first camera in 1980, I found my creative passion in photography. I enjoyed shooting all subject matter – people, places, flowers and animals. I found photography a challenge that allowed me to express my creativity. I work to capture art and beauty of subjects around us that people often may not notice. The major change in my photographic journey came with the purchase of a DSLR digital camera. With the new digital technology, I’ve managed to expand my interest in photography. I have taken over 9000 images in three years. In processing my digital images I only use basic enhancement tools like levels, curves and basic sharpening.
I further expanded my skills and knowledge in photography after joining the Ventura County Camera Club in 2007. I’ve won several merit awards in the club’s monthly meetings which are judged by top professional photographers. My images are juried into shows and have won awards in Ventura County.
Artist Statement
My photography gives others a chance to see through my eyes. I express my passion for design and color in nature and the world through the lens of my camera. Sharing my images in prints and online with my friends and the world, is an expression for life. I have been blessed with a wonderful obsession.
