Carol Henry

Carol Henry, an artist in Studio B1, has 2 bodies of work on display at SCIART. One has been a focus for over two decades. The images are made on a Swiss photo paper in the darkroom by projecting light through compositions, exposed directly and creating vibrant monoprints. The subjects have ranged from botanicals to abstracts with seaweed, water, sheer fabric and glass added in the darkroom often creating environmental illusions. A deeper look under the surface is also the motivation for her painting studies, a 48 month folk art series called, The Obama Painting Project. This timeline evolves in real time each month with 24 completed current event based paintings in the series to date. The environment is again an important component in each 7 foot painting and is part of each statement. These paintings reveal some obvious and hidden clues for the viewer to explore and hopefully realize our times are historic! Carol Henry has a BFA from Northern Michigan University and has also attended University of Cincinnati and UCLA. Having participated in over 200 exhibits nationally, is in many permanent collections, both private and public.
