Began photography as a way to easily share my business travels with my family/friends. At the time, I had a 2 MP Fuji with 8 megs of memory so they were usually 640X480 snapshots. On a trip to Germany/Italy, I was introduced to a nice little Canon that belonged to a colleague of mine. Shortly after getting back, I decided to upgrade to a 7 MP GE point and shoot with a 4X telephoto lens and 1 gig of memory which was a nice upgrade from the Fuji, but not what I really wanted.
Skip forward a few weeks and I started posting a few of my photos on an online radio station photography forum (www.radioparadise.com). The Radio Paradise “community” had some really talented artists/photographers thay gave me great feedback & encouragement which, of course, spurred me on.
After only a short time, it became apparent that the GE was not versatile enough to learn at the rate at which I desired so I again upgraded, this time to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 – although it was still a fairly simple point & shoot, it did have a nice 12X lens and had a few of the advanced features of the DSLR’s of the time and I was set for another year or so.
I decided to take the plunge and get a DSLR, found a discontinued Nikon D80 body and the versatile Sigma AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS walk around” lens on Amazon, so now I had the beginnings of my tool kit, the kit has grown/evolved significantly over the years as has my vision.
I began mounting and framing my own images in 2016, although I really enjoyed cutting my own mats and making the frames from scratch it was painfully obvious that I had to create something unique if I was going to stay interested in this new hobby. I began making the “panel” style works shortly thereafter and really enjoy the creativeness they entail. My work has continued to develop and I hope it continues to do so for many years to come.
