Printmaking: The Traditional Meets the Contemporary

Opening Reception and Award Presentation

May 5, 4 – 6pm

 Studio Channel Islands Art Center will unveil a printmaking exhibit at a reception on Saturday, May 5, from 4 to 6 pm at the gallery in Old Town Camarillo. Juror James Webb, who has worked with artists Frank Stella, Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, chose pieces from 12 exceptional artists for the show. The exhibit will showcase the traditional alongside the transitional and more current forms of printmaking.

Additionally, take a virtual trip ”Around the World” and enjoy a photography exhibit in Gallery II during the month of May. The featured images were taken in the United States, Brazil, Ghana and Europe. 

Artist Talk on May 18 at 5 pm

Artist Tuan Jason Nguyen will speak about cutting-edge printmaking techniques. “Printmaking is a methodological art form designed to deliver art to everyone,” said Nguyen. “Our contemporary prints today remain as mechanical and creative as they have always been since the beginning. Developing new print techniques and processes provides limitless creativity, and defines originality.”
