Studio Channel Islands is proud to announce its upcoming art exhibit “Rock Photo Tour” & “Dynamic” at the Blackboard Gallery, March 3rd – March 31st, 2016. The exhibit will feature the photographs of the world’s most published photographer in the music industry, Rob Shanahan. His photos will be displayed alongside “Dynamic” a group juried art exhibit that chases, captures and plays with KINETIC energy.
Rob Shanahan is one of the most in demand photographers in music. His photos have been used in numerous ad campaigns, DVD and album covers, in books, and magazines around the world. Serving as Ringo Starr’s personal photographer Shanahan has photographed and designed covers for Ringo since 2001. Shanahan also photographed milestone appearances of Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney for The Beatles LOVE show in Las Vegas, Beatles Rock Band release and the Beatles 50th Anniversary celebrations. “Volume 1”, Shanahan’s first published collection of music photographs, was released in January of 2012. With the foreword by Ringo Starr, the book contains quotes from rockers such as drummer Neil Peart, Edgar Winter, Billy Squier, Tommy Lee and Joe Walsh.
Being a musician himself, Shanahan’s knack and understanding of music has made him the first choice photographer for many of the world’s top artists. Drumming since the age of 10, Shanahan lives the dream of being both a professional music photographer and professional musician. He has been performing with the “Hollywood Stones”, the Rolling Stones tribute band since 1992.
Studio Channel Islands is excited to display his iconic photographs in this unique show that combines Shanahan’s personal vision of Rock music with the juried artworks in “Dynamic”, juried by Matthew Furmanski. “Dynamic” will feature artworks that are energized by motion. Studio Channel Islands is thrilled to present works that are active, lively and vigorous, as well as those that more quietly explore the essence of motion. Dynamic
