Susan R Kaufman

My interest in art began at a very early age. My father was an artist born in Russia, and as a young child I began seeing things through his eyes as he pointed out characteristics he was capturing. I saw models come to my father’s studio where we lived. My interest and talent were evident to him and he had me join him in plein air painting and workshops when I was a young girl.

I worked in other fields but have always felt a driven force to be in the art field. Within the art field I have done commissioned murals, paintings and sculptures and have had shows in galleries and works in museums. Aside from working on my own art, I have been teaching art workshops in painting, drawing and sculpting to adults and children for over 20 years.

This last decade I have concentrated on clay to bronze and have won numerous first place awards in national and local county competitions, and recently had my life and works documented through Focus On The Masters.

I am so much happier when I can create. My inspirations come from every day observations of people. I seek to explore and illustrate the pathos and humor in people as well as the spirit and energy of the human condition.

I am happy to have a studio space now at SCIART and be with all the positive energy from all the other artists I share studios with.
