Studio Channel Islands Art Center is excited to announce a new program which furthers our endeavor to support local schools in providing a quality Visual Arts Education to students.

In line with the mission to ‘bring together artists and community for extraordinary encounters that enrich, educate and entertain’, this program will provide an opportunity for teachers to:

  • Work directly with professional artists
  • Learn new artistic skills
  • Develop innovative lesson plans relevant to grade level
  • Gain more confidence to integrate art making activities in the classroom
  • Work on a presentation to share with colleagues

One teacher from each of the following grade levels will be selected: Lower Elementary K – 2; Upper Elementary 3 – 5; Middle School 6 – 8; High School 9 – 12.

This is an opportunity for highly motivated teachers to develop professionally. The program is open to all grade-school teachers, including art teachers, but no prior art education experience is required. Teachers must be able to commit to at least three hours per month working directly with artists in residence at Studio Channel Islands. The program will also require approximately three additional hours of self-development per month.  Please review the program outline before submitting your application.

Applications will be reviewed by the Executive Director, Education Coordinator, and participating Artists in Residence. Selections will be announced in June.
