Open Range Sundays
Open Range Sunday is a day for artists, writers and friends of Studio Channel Islands to immerse themselves in the inspirational beauty of Ventura County’s hidden jewels.
Join us at three private ranches in March, April and May to create in community while taking in the sights and sounds of the spring air.
Enhance your experience by participating in a wellness workshop to unite your physical and emotional awareness with your creative spirit.
Open Range Sundays are about connecting to the present moment, to ourselves and each other as creative people.
It is an opportunity to slow down, look and actually see this place we call home: Ventura County.
SCIART would like to thank Robin Wallace, 101 North, Mark Waldman, Jennifer Jones and our ranch hosts for this opportunity.

Summary
If you’d like to get a taste of what most of Ventura County’s home ranches looked like 70+ years ago, step back in time to the picturesque orchards of Fillmore and EZE Ranch. Owners Steve and Dina built their farmland paradise and farmer’s market garden to feed their souls (and neighbors!) about 15 years ago.
Writers, artists and photographers will find narrative inspiration in the classic farmhouse and barn. Everyone will enjoy hearing what the goats and chickens have to say too!
Chef Steve will add a ticketed ranch BBQ to conclude our Open Range 2026 season if there is enough interest!
Schedule for the day:
Doors open at 10am.
At 11:30am, bestselling author and workshop leader Mark Waldman, together with artist / writer / clinical therapist Jennifer Jones will offer a workshop based on their program “Healing Through Writing,” an expressive-arts-based program that uses poetry, journaling, and reflective writing.
Enjoy mindful walking, mindful observations of nature and forest bathing with all 5 senses.
