First Saturdays

The art studios are open to the public every first Saturday of the month. As many as 40 of the areas very best artists welcome visitors into their studios to watch them create sculptures, paintings and multimedia pieces up-close and personal.

Open Studio Saturday is the ideal time to speak with our artists about classes, commissions, and our wonderful creative community.

Meet this months featured Artist-in-Residence, Regina Vorgang! Visit Regina in Studio C4 during the next Open Studios.

I create original handwoven wool rugs, table runners and tapestries that combine my strong sense of color and design with weaving to make bold design statements. My rugs are “art for the floor,” artistic and functional pieces. I weave with wool which has a beautiful luster and adds dimension and life to the designs I create. The wool was once a living fiber and that life is carried into the piece make.

I weave mostly in a painterly fashion by creating shapes and changing color while I build the weaving. I also have designs that are planned out before I start weaving like my Socially Speaking Rugs. My designs are very graphic, and each piece is one-of-a-kind. I like making functional artwork that will be used and enjoyed for years to come.
