“”Peel”” is an exploration of self-harm, trauma, and the healing process. This installation features 100 pages of the same poem, each page nailed over the other, representing the repetitive and destructive nature of self-harm, anxiety, and generational wounds. The poem itself reflects the compulsion to pick at scabs, draw blood, and expose the raw layers beneath.
The Poem reads:
I pick at scabs
pay no attention to the blood that comes out and stains my clothes this urge has always existed,
as I peel back my layers
I don’t like what I find.
raw organ, my epidermis screams crying for safety.
for protection from me
