I want my work to explore and push the boundaries of how we experience artwork as viewers. I am really interested in the philosophy of aesthetics and observing the world through different experiences, according to different tastes, and how opposite things can affect our perception of the other. What we consider beautiful cannot exist without the horrifying things in the world to juxtapose them, or we would not know what to think of as beautiful. Due to contrast we see each extremity, and in turn the extremes inform one another and create a balance that otherwise would not exist. People have a tendency to try to ignore the part of the balance that they don’t like, if it’s uncomfortable for some reason or not according to their taste, resulting in closed mindedness and a lack of genuine understanding for the aesthetics that we enjoy. This is why when I create art, I like to use a good reference, and start by making something true to life, and then change it or expose a new perspective. My goal is then to commit a transgression against the ideals of the viewer because it develops a new perspective and challenges what they previously thought to be true about the subject.
