Christine Beirne is a multi-media artist who paints in oil, sculpts in metal and stone. Her extensive outdoor experiences including canoeing through Alogonquin Provincial Park and Temagami National Forest in Ontario, Canada have led her to the outdoors for plein air painting.
Beirne received her Bachelors in Art from California State University Channel Islands in 2004. She’s had solo exhibitions at the Buenaventura Art Gallery, Ventura Visitor’s Bureau , Cafe Bariloche, Fox Fine Jewelry, Cafe Zach, Palemero, and Cafe Valentino. American Artist Magazine selected her painting to promote the Focus on the Masters Studio Artists Tour in the May 2007 issue.
Selected recent group exhibitions include the Ventura Music Festival’s Painted Violin Competition, Art in the Garden and Visions on Screen: Unfolding Art of 12 Women; Made in Ojai at the Ojai Valley Museum, Alumni Now! at Studio Channel Islands Art Center, “Shorelines” National Juried Exhibit, Rockport Center for the Arts, Rockport, Tx., and Community Memorial Hospital’s 1st Annual Competition juried by Jessica Cusick.
Christine was Executive Director for the Buenaventura Art Association for three years and currently spends her time painting on location and at her studio in Ojai, California. She was accepted as an Ojai Studio Artist in 2010. She was an Artist-In-Residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo, Ca.
She is the two-time recipient of the Award of Excellence in Sculpture and Painting at Ventura College and won the Barney Dietz Purchase Award at Ventura College. She has won numerous awards for her work at various galleries in Ventura County, including 2nd place in the 2006 Plein Air Open Competition jurored by David Gallup.
