Bio
Daryl Bibicoff is a Los Angeles based artist. He earned both his BA and MA in Art from California State University, Northridge. Early on, Bibicoff channeled the rhythm of athletic energy into expressive visual compositions. However, his artwork has evolved and explores the transition from motion to stillness.
His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Southern California and Las Vegas, including shows at The Los Angeles Makery, Shoebox Arts, The Main Art Gallery, Art Space Valencia, Antenna Studio, and Ariey Productions. His artwork is held in private collections across the United States and the United Kingdom.
In addition, he completed a 2024 residency with Shoebox Arts in Los Angeles and participated in the Arts for LA Protégé Program. His work has been published in Artonish Magazine, Artist Portfolio Magazine, Diversions LA, Art and Cake LA, and Santa Clarita Magazine.
Prominent in his “After” series is the exploration of silence, transition, and transformation through fragmented compositions and open space. In this work he combines abstraction, layered surfaces, found materials, expressive textures and mark-making. He incorporates acrylic paint, glue, crystal beads, and found objects from nature and the streets to create works that blur the boundaries between painting and object.
Art Statement
I am a Los Angeles based painter, digital artist, and sculptor. My work explores the relationship between internal awareness and external energy. As a marathon runner and mountain and road cyclist, I channel the momentum of athletic motion into expressive abstract compositions.
My earlier work is influenced by the spiritual abstraction of Wassily Kandinsky and the gestural energy of New York School artists such as Willem de Kooning, Lee Krasner, and Jackson Pollock. Emphasis in my artwork is energy and metaphysical possibility. Now, my After series is influenced by Agnes Martin and Frank Stella.
My current body of work, After, reflects a transitional state where intensity dissolves into quiet awareness. These works explore the passage from motion to stillness. I am creating art with traces of energy that remain are instilled within the surface. This suggests reflection, balance, and expanded perception in my work.
I am a Los Angeles based Abstract Painter.. My current body of work, After, explores the moment when intensity dissolves into quiet awareness. These abstract paintings focus on stillness, where traces of movement remain embedded within the surface. Through layered marks, color, and texture, the work suggests reflection, balance, and expanded perception.
Found objects are often integrated into the paintings, creating a dialogue between material, surface, and space while extending the physical presence of the work. These elements reinforce the idea that energy leaves a lasting imprint even after action subsides.
While my practice has long been informed by physical movement and external energy, those influences now serve as a secondary reference. The focus of After is the contemplative state that follows activity through an abstract space where motion quiets and awareness deepens.
