I paint as an expression of my visceral desire to create an image of how I feel in the fullness of the moment. The relationship between our emotions and the natural world intrigues me. I am driven to visually express emotions in all the variations we all experience. Our emotions often drive us to nature to restore, inspire and ground ourselves.
Striving in each gestural abstract to achieve simplicity, my ongoing journey is to capture and embrace the spirit, thereby allowing the viewer to join and live it in the moment.
Alcohol ink is fluid, vivid and has motion. It can be translucent or opaque. The spontaneity of alcohol ink moves me forward as I create each piece. Reverse painting on plexiglass and glass absolutely challenges and fascinates me. On the other hand, painting on paper and canvas is a welcome change.
