Dani Dodge is a Los Angeles-based artist, curator, and arts community organizer.

As a journalist, Dodge was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting for disclosing congressional bribe-taking. After covering the 2003 invasion of Iraq, though, she became determined to influence the world through art rather than words.

In her private practice, she often uses unexpected sculptural materials to alter spaces with a recent focus on the survival and extinction of desert plants. In 2022, she had solo shows at the Joshua Tree National Park and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History.

Her works often play with surrealist ideas using innovative forms and have included brightening a black-and-white snowy forest in Ireland with luminescent tree stumps, filling a gallery entrance with rotating car parts made from baby blankets, and wallpapering a room many times over just to ask people to peel the wallpaper off.

Dodge created site-specific installations at the Coos Art Museum, Lancaster Museum of Art and History, New Museum Los Gatos, Inland Empire Museum of Art, Inglewood Public Library, San Diego International Airport, San Diego Art Institute and more. Dodge’s installation/performance CONFESS at 2015’s LA Pride was named one of the outstanding public art projects of the year by Americans for the Arts. Her work has appeared in numerous national and international group exhibitions as well.

She has been a founding member of two art collectives within Los Angeles. BLAM (Brooklyn-Los Angeles Meet) was a one-year project that brought artists from the two cities together. She started High Beams in 2020 with a few friends to create art exhibitions in parking lots so that even the most Covid-vulnerable could enjoy art from the safety of their cars. She is an alumna of A.I.R. gallery in New York, and a member of the Los Angeles-based Durden and Ray artist collective. She has curated many shows including those at BLAM, Durden and Ray, and High Beams.

In 2014, she founded Los Angeles Art Opportunities on Facebook, which now has over 10,000 Los-Angeles-area artist members who often go there daily in search of calls for art and art-related job postings.

She has been commissioned to do community building through interactive art installations, art activations, and community engagement projects. She has been interviewed and written about in a number of publications including the Los Angeles Times, Artillery, whole life times, Art Daily, Riot Material, Art and Cake, Visual Art Source, Huffington Post, ArtNews, AEQAI, and The San Diego Union-Tribune.
