This body of work reflects on the human perspective of embodied mental health. Often times, questions and statements arise such as, “Why so Blue?” or “It’s all in your head”, without sincerely taking into consideration what’s truly being said or asked of one another. Mental health is seen very “Black and White” in this way, when there are thousands of tiny jigsaw pieces to the puzzle. For instance, being depressed is unfathomably more complicated than being “blue,” it’s being unable to leave your house, unable to feel positive feelings and emotions towards your partner, and being irritable in ways you can’t enjoy even the simplest things in life. Human nature compels us to sympathize and use logical reasoning, when truly we should take note of all factors, understand, and call to action based on these notions, rather than using “cure-all” phrases to address one another in discomfort.
